This is to advise that the night, previously advised as a 'Committee Night' on 8 April has been changed to a 'Guest Speaker' night - with partners invited.
I am extremely pleased to advise we've been fortunate to obtain, at short notice, Alice Marbin, a Toowoomba-based, award winning, self-publishing author and keynote speaker for many Rotary Clubs and District Conferences, to speak to us on that evening.
Alice is the author of titles such as 'The Drover', The Driver' and 'The Growler' series and she will have copies of her books available for purchase on the evening. She has also kindly offered to donate back $10 to the Club from each book sold, to be used by our Club for whichever project we may care to put it towards.
The following is a link to a Channel 9's feature on Alice.
I look forward to seeing you and your partners on the evening, but numbers in advance to Julie Beddow for catering purposes please.
With kindest regards,
Kim Thorburn
President

https://southerndownsandgranitebelt.com.au/gbart/ Savour the Granite Belt’s thriving art and craft community at the Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail – Open Studios Event. Held over two huge weekends, follow the trail map to discover a variety of local artists, as they exhibit at studios and galleries as well as taking up residence in community spaces. Enrol in a class, watch a demonstration or simply enjoy taking a look at their artistic process. This self drive trail provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscapes around Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt, including national parks, mountains, award-winning wineries and local cafes. The trail begins at the top of the Granite Belt at Dalveen (about 2.5 hours from Brisbane) and winds its way south to the New South Wales border.

ManUp! is a registered not for profit organisation. In 2019 ManUp! is conducting an awareness and educational campaign in rural and regional Queensland. We are committed to reaching men in these areas as men in these communities have a 32% higher prostate cancer mortality rate than men in capital cities. An awareness and educational program is vital in these areas if we are to save the lives of a significant proportion of the population.
The goal of the ManUp! Prostate Cancer Education Program is to raise the public's “brand awareness” for prostate cancer, its detection, its treatment and the need for a program that offers support to men living with prostate cancer. |
