The Satellite club in partnership with Heritage Estate winery hosted the Opp Shop Formal Dinner on the evening of May 27th. It was a fun filled night with approximately 60 people dressing up in their Opp Shop finest to support raising funds to send youth on the Rotary leadership camps. With some live music and engaging commentary on the fashions, the evening flew by.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from Chris, a young man who had been on one of the camps previously. Unprompted, he volunteered to get up and speak to the crowd about his positive experience, sharing the value he got out of the opportunity. This really resonated around the room and it was fantastic to demonstrate and share first hand with everyone how the efforts of Rotarians can impact peoples' lives for the better.
A big thank you for the generous donations by many local businesses and Rotarians. As a result we had a great haul of raffle prizes to assist with the fund raising, and in total we raised just over $1600 which will provide 4 young people like Chris fully funded camp placements. A great night, and a great outcome, thanks to all involved!
