Last Monday Stanthorpe Rotary held its AGM. Results of the elections for the 2019-2020 leadership team are as follows: President Denise Harslett, Vice President Fran Hodgson, President Elect Julia Hassall, Immediate Past President Kim Thorburn, Secretary Melissa Pascoe, Treasurer Greg Paxton, Satellite Chair Ann Richardson. Best wishes to our new team for next year.
Our meeting next Monday is at the Men's Shed and is a self cantering evening. If you were not at the meeting last Monday please let Jim Barnes know if you are coming and what food you may wish to offer to share.
This coming Saturday morning we are holding a sausage sizzle at the Summit Christmas Market at the Summit Hall from 8-12. Any helpers would be appreciated. Honorary member Bill Humble will be the fellow dressed in the red and white suit.
Do you know someone 19-28 who would benefit from going to RYLA?
We are looking for nominees who may be interested in hearing about the Ryla camp.
The Ryla Flyer is below. Please pass names (with a contact phone number if you can) to Nicole Clarke (0448730191) or Ann Richardson (0402 037 358). Feel free to give them a copy of the flyer. We will contact them on Rotary's behalf. Within the next week would be great! Thank you.
Interact, Christmas, Stamps, Trachoma
Stanthorpe Interact finished the school year with a party meeting filled with softdrink, cake, lollies and games (they are only teenagers, after all!). But there was a serious note to their final meeting. They decided to take on a Christmas Community Service Project - collecting stamps for End Trachoma by 2020. While Stamps aren't seen much any more (one Interactor asked what a stamp was!!), they are more common at Christmas time with cards being posted, and they are still valuable. This is a simple project that will contribute funds to an Australian cause that will benefit Australian Indigenous kids. Please collect your stamps and pass them on to Ann Richardson or via Norm Gale. They will be added to the Interact Collection. PS the collection will continue on into next year. If you would like to know more about the End Trachoma by 2020 Australian project or about the Stamp Collection, see the posters below.
A reminder of the request Kylie has had from the Salvation Army seeking helpers for a free community dinner they provide on Christmas Eve. If you feel able to give a couple of hours to help please contact Kylie or myself for a volunteers's form.
Julia's information about our Stanthorpe Rotary Christmas dinner on 17th December is contained in the flyer below.
