Meeting last Monday was a social evening at Ballandean Tavern with about 30 in attendance and a good evening.
Melissa asked about possible hosting of a friendship team from Wisconsin, USA , from 28/2/19 to 4/3/19. She is looking for 6 hosts for 2 people each and if you would like to be involved please contact Melissa as she needs definite commitment to host before we put our hands up.
There is also a YEP Campout proposed for late February and possible hosting of the GCE team sometime in March although this is not a definite as the program is not formulated  as yet. I also believe Stanthorpe Club is organising the PETS weekend to be held in Stanthorpe 23-24 February. In all a busy time!
This coming Saturday we are running a sausage sizzle for the Chamber of Commerce for the opening of the Big Thermometer. It should not be a big job but if you would like to help, come along between 3 and 5pm.
Alec has also been contacted with a request to provide a burger and drink for about 30 Carers on 17thOctober during “Carers Week”. More about this later.

The Drought Relief Event being organised by the combined Service Clubs of Stanthorpe for Friday 21stSeptember is coming along well. The flyer is attached and tickets are now on sale at the Bendigo Community Bank at a cost of $20(booking essential). Please be sure to come along as Rotary would not wish to be put to shame by the other clubs, especially as this event was instigated by Rotary. Hopefully members will also muster up other supporters as the general Stanthorpe community is showing a lot of support for this event, along with the rest of the country. Katy Cook will be entertaining with the theme being “Country” and our own Morwenna Harslett is the Trivia master. There will be a guest speaker as well as auction, raffles and of course a bar and food provided by the Snowflakes committee and Ringmasters Café Sub committees of the Show Society. All proceeds going to the cause. Rotary has been assigned the “Cleanup” job and some help may be required on the bar. We are also responsible for money collection on the night and keeping the income and expenditure records(thanks to treasurer Peter). There will also be a bin available on the night for donations of non-perishable food items if you wish to contribute in this way. These bins are already placed in several businesses around the town.

Gourmet in Gundy is on again on Sunday 9thSeptember and if you are interested in going please contact Denise so we can decide on car pooling or possible bus hire. It is always a fun day and good to support a neighbouring Rotary Club.

Congratulations to Melissa and Chris Pascoe on receiving “Koala” awards from the Qld Scouting movement. These awards are for Scout Leaders providing more than 15 years of service over and above the normal line of duty. Great work Melissa and Chris.
