Last Monday our guest speaker failed to turn up so the meeting was brief, but time enough for young Jeremy Lister to beat his mother at a game of chess!

Kim raised the matter of bikes for the kids at Mingoola, which was mentioned in last week's bulletin after Tom Hodgson had suggested it to the Satellite Group. Kim has a bike in his shed which never gets used and I am sure there are many other bikes suffering a similar fate, so if you have an old bike you don 't want, please let Ann Richardson know on 0402037358. Once Ann and Tom know what is available a working B will be organised to effect repairs.

Julie Beddow reminded us of Meals on Wheels this coming week, so don't forget to turn up at the hospital at 11am if you put your name on the roster. If you aren't on the list this time let Julie know that you would like to be included in future.

Don't forget the Drought Fundraiser evening at the Show Ground on Friday night(21st). Bookings at Bendigo Bank. Details below.

Also in the notices below is information about what you can do for ending Trachoma with your used stamps. There are also a couple of preliminary notices about the "Lift the Lid" breakfast on 10 Oct and a fundraising film night for Polio eradication when the Tenterfield Club will be screening "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Have you had a chance to meet our charming French Mademoiselle, Marie? She has two weeks of school holidays coming up and would love to be included in whatever is going on.

On Monday evening 24th Sept our guest speakers are Chris Teague and Jamie Clyne from the Gundy Rotary Club. They will be talking about the proposed RAWCS Training Centre project and volunteering opportunity for Nepal next April. Our club has offered support for this project so they are coming to present information to us. Members of the Satellite group are encouraged to attend also and hear about this opportunity. Satellite Group have a social meeting on 27th. at Lillys

Marie
Our Youth Exchange student, Marie, has settled in well with her current host Mum, Morwenna, and is seen here helping clear the boat launch area on Storm King Dam beside the new shed. Storm King Boat Club hosted us for dinner one evening last summer and they are about to hold the official opening of their new facility. Marie has also been observed getting special help with Maths homework from her new Mum. What "Mum" lacks in mothering experience she makes up for with teaching ability.
Please remember Morwenna has to work during the school holidays so if you are doing anything of interest-especially if you have kids on holidays yourself- remember it will be a pretty boring holiday for Marie just sitting around by herself at the Nursery for 2 weeks. Give her a call and include her with whatever is going on in your life. It is a good opportunity for club members to get to know Marie.

Weekly giggle ... Did you know dogs can't operate medical equipment? But cats can....
