No Meeting to report on this week as Monday was a public holiday.
Leeanne G has sent the following notice re an Opera meeting:
Meeting Notice
Tuesday 16 October, 4pm at the Country Club.
All members invited to discuss/brainstorm the way forward with Opera in the Vineyard.
We would appreciate all and any ideas to improve/change the format of the event to make it more profitable.
Board Members please note there is also a Board meeting at 5.30 the same day at the RSL.
A reminder of the "Lift the Lid" Breakfast being organised by Jim Barnes at the RSL on Wednesday 10th(see flyer below) in lieu of a meeting on Monday. Let Jim know of you attendance or otherwise if you haven't done so already.
Julie B reminds everyone, including the Satellite members that the DG is visiting on Monday 15th Oct and this is a Partner's Night as always. Please let her know attendance numbers- word of mouth at the Breakfast meeting will suffice if you are there.
Alec reminds us that we are catering for a group of "Carers" for lunch at Hal's Rotary Shell by Carnarvon Bridge on Wednesday 17th Oct. As Alec will still be somewhat incapacitated due to having a hip replaced next week he would be pleased to have a couple of volunteers to help. We are providing a burger plus tea/coffee/juice/water for 30 people so do not need too many helpers.
Julia H has asked me to post the invitation below, received from the Puglisi Family, to attend then launch of a book written about "The Father of the Wine Industry".
With Spooky Walk fast approaching please make sure you are keeping the afternoon and evening of 31st Oct free to help. It is especially important that Monday Club members help with the setup for this event as most of the Satellite group are full-time working so they are relying on retiree members to help get things ready. This event was a great success at first run last year so please get behind it.
No doubt you may have noticed Alec's letter to the editor in the Border Post on Thursday re the Drought fundraiser. He has put Samantha straight about being a mere mortal in the Rotary Club and not the Lions President! We await treasurer Peter's final financial report but it was obviously a great success and example of the local Service Clubs pulling together for our community. Well done to all concerned.
A newsletter arrived this week from Fran telling of her adventures in South Africa. Fran has given permission for me to forward the letter to anyone interested so let me (Denise) know if you would like to read it and I will forward it on. Fran is due back at the end of the month.
