at Monday's Assembly 13th July:-

Our next Assembly on the 13th is to help President Julia and the new chairs present ideas and establish committees.  Bring items to exchange along with new chairs. It is also an opportunity for gathering information, preparation for the year ahead and for club members to voice opinions, address issues and anything else that can be planned, organised or laid to rest.
Changes to Monday Meetings
For the past year, Fran's board meetings were held on the 3rd Monday, now changed to 1st Monday.  The change has been made so that the International Club caterers cook on the 2nd and 4th Monday for Us as well as the Lions.
On the other Mondays, 3rd and 5th, we can self cater, dine out, or Zoom.
More discussion on this idea at the Assembly.

  CENTENARY OF ROTARY AUSTRALIA LAUNCH
Satellite Club Changeover Dinner Meeting

 8th July at Lily's Cafe
Ann Richardson spoke of the successes the group had experienced during her two years as Chair especially in the Area of Youth.  Spooky Walk will take on a new challenge this year with Covid 19 still about, but will proceed.  More on this later.  Everybody thanked Ann for her devotion to the group.
Incoming Chair Janelle Bell presented each member with a pin (Women in Rotary and for Kyle a keyring) and outlined her plans for the coming year.  A very happy group of Rotarians. Apologies Ros and Leanne W.

Thanks to Ann Richardson for her contribution
Each week, this section of the Bulletin will ask us to think about and act on some aspect of our Rotary life in relation to this year’s Presidential Theme.
The theme of Rotary Opens Opportunities is explained below.

RI President Holger Knaack’s theme for 2020-21, Rotary Opens Opportunities, asks Rotarians to create opportunities that strengthen their leadership, help put service ideas into action, and improve the lives of those in need.
As Rotarian’s in Stanthorpe, we can be challenged by these ideas at a personal level and for our club. Read on!
The following are points from RIP Knaak’s Theme presentation speech in January this year.
  • “Rotary isn’t just a club for people to join, but rather an invitation to endless opportunities” Rotary creates pathways for members to improve their lives and the lives of those they help through service projects.
  • “We believe that our acts of service, big and small, create opportunities for people who need our help.”
  • Rotary creates leadership opportunities (he wants more women in leadership roles) and gives members the chance to travel the world to put their service ideas into action and make lifelong connections. “Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.”
  • Rotary’s Action Plan is a compass that can guide clubs as they evolve. Every club’s strategic plan should be discussed at least once a year with discussion around where they want to be in five years and how they can bring more value to their members.
  • Embrace change so Rotary can expand and thrive:
- Rather than setting a specific target for increasing the number of members, think about how to grow in a sustainable and organic way, ie focus on keeping current members engaged and adding new members who are the right fit for their club; making Rotary stronger, more adaptable, and even more aligned with our core values. “Every new member changes us a little bit. That person brings a new perspective, new experiences. We need to embrace this constant renewal. We will grow stronger as we learn from new members.”
  • Consider new club/membership models and rethink what it means to be in Rotary.
  • Rotaractors can play an integral role in how new clubs are formed and run, allow young people to be the architects of these new clubs. “We have to be open to new approaches, and creating unique clubs for younger people is just part of the solution. These young people are bright, energetic, and they get things done.”
From which doors do opportunities open for yourself and for Rotary Stanthorpe during this Rotary year?
