G’day!
It’s been another busy couple of weeks for some of our Rotarians!
Fran, Julie and the Meals on Wheels Committee organised a wonderful luncheon to thank all the volunteers who assist with Meals on Wheels on Tuesday. It was great to see the room full of such caring people! Please pass on our thanks to Tom for providing the music for the function, Fran.
Jim Barnes and Catherine ran another excellent Ageing Well session on Friday. The guest speaker was the clinical pharmacist from the hospital. She spoke about the community group of nurses who assist patients with medications when they go home after hospitalisation. She also spoke about the research project the hospital is involved in, looking at people’s allergy to penicillin. She encouraged anyone who thinks they have an allergy to speak to their doctor. She spoke about the difference between an allergy and a side effect.
Melissa Pascoe’s hospitality and catering students catered for both functions. She is certainly moulding them them into an efficient group of willing helpers. Please pass on our Club’s congratulatons for their high standard of food, presentation and their cheerful demeanour. Also, thank you to you Melissa for organising them so well.
The 150 memorabilia colouring books look really great. These are available from Jim Barnes as well as coffee mugs. There is more merchandise for sale when it’s ready. Contact Jim if you would like some.
A big thank you to everyone for taking part in these events. It certainly gives Rotary a positive presence in our community.
The Satellite Club have some functions in the pipeline as well. Please take note of these in their report.
Have a good week and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Monday, March 28.
